What is a OSX file (a file with file extension OSX)?

Files that contain the .osx file extension are most commonly associated with Power PC applications for computers that are operating on the Mac OS X operating system. Power PC is a RISC architecture that was created by Apple in 1991. The format of the architecture was based largely on IBM's POWER architecture.

The OSX files that are associated with the Power PC programs contain the program headers for the related Power PC program. The OSX files that are used with the Power PC applications are saved in binary format.

The .osx file extension is also used for OSW external files.
