What is a IES file (a file with file extension IES)?
Files that contain the .ies file extension are most commonly associated with photometry measurement files. The IES file format was created by the Illumination Engineering Society of North America standards as a standard file format for photometric information. These files calculate the amount of light projected onto a specified surface.
The creation of this file format allowed for the distribution of photometry measurement files across multiple operating systems and software programs. The photometric data is stored in an ASCII text-based file format.
The .ies file extension is also used by the Lightscape software application. These IES files contain lights files that are used by the software.
