What is a DSS file (a file with file extension DSS)?
DSS is an acronym for Digital Speech Standard. The DSS file format is proprietary to Olympus digital recorders. Files that contain the .dss file extension store digital audio files that have been recorded with one of these various Olympus devices.
In addition to audio data, the DSS files that are created by the Olympus digital recorders also contain additional data that can be stored in the header of the file.
The .dss file extension is also used by the Digital Soup software. These DSS files contain the sound files that are referenced by the Digital Soup application.
Action Replay saved game files also use the .dss file suffix.
